What is “Climate Anxiety”? Conversations about Mental Health and Our Environment

Apr 21, 2023 | 3:00pm - 4:30pm (MDT)

Presented by

Join Pathlight Mood & Anxiety Center and Art with Impact to get an exclusive sneak peek of three brand new films addressing an incredibly impactful, yet underrepresented topic. According to the American Psychological Association, about two-thirds of adults (68%) said they have a least a little “eco-anxiety,” and nearly half of those under age 34 said the stress they feel about this topic impacts their daily life. Art with Impact filmmakers are using art to express, process and cope with the ways in which concerns about environment/climate are impacting mental health today.

Attending this event will give you:

  • Lived experience stories of those facing “climate anxiety” or “eco-anxiety” head on.
  • Tools for managing anxiety and trauma responses.
  • Clips of the films being featured in the Voices with Impact mental health film festival
  • Insight regarding the festival’s films directly from the filmmakers themselves.
  • Exposure to the ways art can help us connect, heal, and hold hope.

If you’re worried about our environment/climate – pollution, carbon footprints, ecological disasters, and environmental shifts – and this is impacting your mental wellness, you are not the only one. Together, we can find better ways of coping.

*Content warning: Topics will include trauma and anxiety in relation to geohazards (earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, etc.), plastics and waste, and food security. Please take care and reach out to your support systems as needed.
